On April 2 J. Crew presented their Fall 2010 Menswear Collection. I’m only slightly envious that I didn’t get my invitation to the presentation. I’ve been dying to meet Frank Muytjens — simply for what he’s done to with the J. Crew line.
This is one of those collections that you can take straight from the racks to your wardrobe and not miss a beat.
As you can see Frank Muytjens has done a stellar job with this fall’s collection. As many of you know (and some of you will soon know) Muytjens started with J. Crew in early 2008 and has completely morphed the brand from a stock store for the prepster into this definitive resource for men worldwide who want more from their wardrobe.
Muytjens has aided the J. Crew line to collab with Superior Labor, Sperry, SeaVees, Levis, and Wexler & Co., AND opened the J. Crew Liquor Store, “featuring a handpicked selection of carefully edited pieces for style connoisseurs and individualists alike.” From its rolled-up chinos (which I donned today actually) to its wingtip oxfords, chambray workshirts, and everything in between, J.Crew has become one of my favorite brands to wear and look to for inspiration. I honestly cannot wait until this collection comes out. I repeat — cannot wait!

Nice job William! Great article. It’s really important to be able to have an entertaining writing style for subjects like this.…at least it is for me, and your article certainly kept my attention. I didn’t realize J. Crew had changed so much. Are they only catering to men now? Just wondering…maybe that’s why I haven’t seen a catalog in the mail for a few years. Nice work!

J. Crew has womens as well — and word on the street is that they are opening a bridal boutique end of May. More soon on that!

Just tried to leave a fun lengthy comment and didn’t enter the required info above… so hitting the back button all was deleted. Boo.
Didn’t know that you were such a lover of J Crew! Wondering where this presentation was held and if they had press to cover the event. I have been to presentations for Louie and Cartier on Rodeo Drive and they are star studded press driving events! Tons of fun. Wondering how J Crew is advertising as well? Do they have commercials or are they more add based? All valid questions since this revamping with Mr. Muytjens on board.
